The phone knows whether the computer is there

• Under the chat header, a dot and a sentence. Green: "Computer online · checked the mailbox 3 s ago". Amber, after 30 seconds: "checked the mailbox 2 min ago". Orange, after 5 minutes: "The computer has not checked the mailbox for 1 h", with what to look at (that it is on, that Univirtex Agent is open in the tray) and the note that what you send will wait in the mailbox.
• Why. A computer that stopped answering looked, from the phone, exactly like one that answers: "linked · encryption active" was true and said nothing about whether anybody was at the other end. The mailbox always knew when the agent last polled; now it says so.
• Goes with Univirtex Agent 1.0.33, whose Communications page offers "Start with Windows" and "Keep the computer awake" at link time, so the computer does not go absent again.

Writing on the phone: the box full width, the buttons above it

• Two rows on the phone. Above, attach, microphone and Send; below, the text box across the full width. When the keyboard comes up the buttons sit right above the box, not beside it.
• The box grows with what you type (up to a third of the screen, then it scrolls inside), and with the keyboard up you can see what you write: the column fits what the keyboard leaves, on Android and on iPhone, and the footer goes away meanwhile.
• Enter: on the computer it sends (Shift+Enter is a new line); on the phone it is a new line and you send with the button.

The voice speaks again, you can see it reading, and the shield where it belongs

• It reads again. On some phones v2.9 read nothing. Now each sentence is requested when the previous one ends (not all at once), a voice in your language is picked by hand, and if anything fails the text is read as is instead of going silent. If nothing has sounded after three seconds, the app says so and says the usual reason (volume, or the iPhone's silent mode).
• "Test the voice" in Settings → Voice: says one sentence and shows how many voices the phone has.
• A bar you cannot miss. While it reads, a green bar "Reading aloud · Tap to stop", with moving waves, above the message box. All of it stops the reading.
• Install, always visible. The "Install as an app" button no longer disappears when the browser does not offer to install: it explains what to tap in the browser menu and, if it is not there either, that this system does not allow creating the app.
• The shield in the header. The diamond in the header was a leftover of the provisional icon; it is the shield now. And the installed app's icon refreshes on Android when opened (on iPhone, when added to the Home Screen again).

Reads what it says, not how it is written, and can be stopped

• Clean reading. The voice no longer reads "asterisk asterisk" or spells out web addresses: it skips formatting marks, emojis and code blocks (it says "code omitted" instead); of a link it reads the text, and of an address only the site name. Headings, bullets and table rows are read as sentences, with their pause.
• A button to stop. While it speaks, "Stop reading" appears above the message box. Locking the app or switching the voice off also stops it.
• Long answers. On some phones the voice used to go quiet halfway through a long answer. It now reads sentence by sentence; of a very long answer (more than about six thousand characters) it reads the beginning, cut at a whole sentence, and the rest stays on screen. "Stop" cuts it whenever you like.
• Icons. The real Univirtex shield in the installed app (adaptive on Android, iPhone, and the browser tab); there was a placeholder icon before.

A PIN for your phone, and settings in their place

• When you link, you choose a PIN. It protects what the app keeps on this phone: without it, the conversation cannot be opened. 4 to 8 digits. It cannot be recovered — it is not stored anywhere —: if you forget it, you link again by scanning a new code on the computer. Five wrong tries in a row and the phone forgets the link by itself.
• You decide when it asks. Settings → Lock: every time you close the app, or after 1, 5, 15 minutes, 1 hour or 8 hours idle. In between, it opens by itself. "Log out" is now "Lock": the conversation stays, the key does not.
• A settings gear top right, with everything about this phone: language, look, lock, alerts, voice, install, and "Forget this phone" at the bottom. "Your agent" is now only about the agent.
• Alerts when it answers. A checkbox in Settings: the phone notifies you even with the app closed. The alert carries no text — it goes through Google's or Apple's notification servers — it only says there is an answer. On iPhone it works with the app added to the home screen. (It has to be enabled on the mailbox; until then the checkbox says it is not available.)
• If you already had it linked, the first time you open it you will be asked to choose the PIN. Nothing to scan again.

Install it as an app

• A button to install it. On Android (Chrome) you get “Install as an app”, on the linking screen and inside “Your agent”. Installed, it opens full screen, with its own icon and no address bar. On iPhone and iPad Apple does not allow installing from a button: the button shows you the two taps (Share → Add to Home Screen), which do the same.
• No connection? It tells you. A band at the top says so and the send button switches off. Nothing is kept to “send later”: a message that stays on the phone unsent is a promise the app cannot keep.
• When there is a new version, an “Update” button. Installed there is no reload button, so the app offers it itself.
• Uses less battery. With the app in the background it stops asking the mailbox every second; when you come back, it catches up at once.
• The desktop QR also works from the phone's camera. If the desktop draws the QR as a link, the system camera opens the app already linked, without opening it first to scan. The scanner inside still accepts the usual QR.
• Under each file you send, what the agent did with it: looked at it, transcribed it, read it, only saved it, or could not. Before, that came as a loose message, or not at all. (Needs agent version 1.0.30.)
• Help and What's new open in the browser, not inside the app, so there is always a way back to the chat.

Scrolling stops being work, and the agent can ask your permission here

• Scrolling in the chat is no longer work. The conversation used to grow the whole page — six thousand pixels with an ordinary chat — so reaching the box to type meant travelling all the way down, with a tiny scrollbar. Now the list keeps the screen and scrolls inside it; the box to type stays where you left it.
• A “Jump to latest” button. It appears only when you have scrolled up, with a dot when something arrived while you read.
• And it stops dragging you. Every answer that arrived used to yank you back to the bottom even while you were reading back. If you are up there, nothing moves any more.
• The agent can ask your permission from here. When what you asked for needs permission — talking to a new website, writing outside its folder, looking at your local network — it now asks on the phone, explains why, and tells you what happens if you say no. Before, it asked nothing: it treated it as refused and looked like it was refusing to work. If you do not answer within three minutes, it counts as a no.
• In landscape the screen fits too, which it did not.

Made to fit a phone

• The chat screen ran off the right edge on a phone: the send button was cut in half and you had to drag the page sideways to reach it. It now fits whatever width your screen is.
• The message box gets more room. The attach and record buttons take only what they need, and the rest is for your text.
• The conversation takes whatever screen is left instead of a height guessed in advance, so the footer and the message box no longer slide below the edge when the browser bar changes size or you open the agent card.

Ask it to read the answer out loud

• Reading replies aloud already worked, but it lived in a footer checkbox nobody ever found. Now, the first time you ask something and the answer is long, the agent offers to read it to you. Say “yes” and it reads them from then on.
• You can ask any time by typing “read it aloud”, or inside the request itself: “summarise the email and read it aloud”. To stop, say “stop reading”.
• It is your own phone speaking: no audio travels over the network and the text never goes through a voice service. It costs no data, and what gets read never leaves the device.
• Fixed on iPhone: Safari requires the first spoken line to follow a tap of yours. Sending now counts as that tap, so it speaks there too.

Your question travels with the photo

• If you type something and attach an image or a document, the text now travels inside the send itself. It used to go right after, by which time the agent had already started answering: the photo got looked at without knowing what you were asking about it.
• So "what does this sign say?" now arrives with the sign. Nothing changes about the encryption: the question rides inside the same encrypted envelope as the file.
• This goes with the agent-side release (v1.0.63): if your Superior model supports images, it now really looks at them and tells you what is there. If neither of your models can, it says so.

Built for the phone, and in whatever look you pick

• It finally fits on a phone. The conversation takes up the screen you actually have — not a fixed little box — and the message field stays pinned at the bottom, in view, however long the thread gets. It used to slide off screen exactly when you went to reply.
• The phone's gesture bar is accounted for, and opening the keyboard shrinks the conversation instead of covering it. Nothing overflows sideways and the buttons are big enough for a thumb.
• Pick your look, top right, remembered on this device. It starts as a green terminal; there is also a messaging style (light, with bubbles), the look the site had until now, and the desktop app palettes: Teal, Midnight, Ember, Mono, Cyberpunk, Rose and Light.
• A "Share link" button in the footer: on a phone it opens your own share sheet, with your apps in the order you use them; on a computer it copies the address. Only the address is shared — neither your session nor your account goes with it.

Link by scanning a QR — no more passwords

• You now link by scanning a QR from the desktop app. No username, no password, no codes to copy. Once per device.
• The QR expires in 3 minutes and works only once. If you run out of time, generate a new one.
• Below the QR you also get the same characters as text, in case you cannot scan.
• Your messages are better protected than before: the key is no longer derived from a guessable password but is a random number. There is nothing to brute-force.
• The key travels from computer to phone through the camera, so the server has never held it.

Signing in with username and password is still available as an alternative, under “Sign in with username and password”.

Voice notes and spoken replies

• Microphone button: record a voice note and it is sent encrypted, like any attachment. Up to 3 minutes.
• Notes you receive play right inside the conversation.
• New option to have replies read aloud. It uses your own device's voice, so it costs no data and the text never leaves it.

Scan the QR with the camera, and privacy in plain sight

• Camera button next to the code field: point at the QR and the 6-digit code fills itself in. Works on Android, iPhone and desktop.
• Before the camera opens you get a notice explaining what happens to the video: it is analysed on your device and discarded. And you can always type the code by hand.
• The privacy statement is now always visible on the sign-in screen, not hidden behind a link.

Sign in without repeating the code, and with your fingerprint

• “Trust this device”: after the first sign-in, that device gets in with just the password, username already filled.
• Fingerprint or Face ID unlock (optional). The key is stored on the device protected by your biometrics, not by a file.
• Red “Clear sessions and sign-in data” button in two places: on the sign-in screen it cleans only that device; inside the app, all of them.
• Fixed: images with a transparent background turned black when sent.
• Fixed: the download link did not work on images.

Sending images and documents

• Attach with the clip, by dragging onto the chat, or by pasting a screenshot with Ctrl+V.
• Photos are optimised before sending: far smaller, and the agent reads them just as well. Their metadata is stripped in the process, including where the photo was taken.
• Images show in the conversation; other files download.
• Large files are split into chunks and each chunk is encrypted separately.
